چکیده

Measurements of reaction cross sections are routinely used to deduce effective nuclear root mean square ~rms! radii by comparison with theoretical model predictions. Cross sections calculated using the optical limit Glauber model depend strongly on the rms radius of the density assumed for the projectile nucleus. We investigate such calculations by assuming a range of projectile density distributions. We show that calculated Li-target cross sections at fixed rms radii retain a significant sensitivity to higher radial moments of the projectile density which is quite different for light and heavy targets. @S0556-2813~96!02905-6#

Halo Structure Of 19 C Via The ( p , d ) Reaction

We have investigated the heaviest one-neutron halo candidate 19 C nucleus. Few-body model calculations of cross section angular distributions for the 19 C(p, d) 18 C reaction, together with the test calculations carried out for the 17 C(p, d) 16 C reaction, at a low incident energy are presented for different possible halo-neutron configurations. We show that there is a clear distinction betwee...

Radii of halo nuclei from cross section measurements.

The root mean square matter radii of halo nuclei provide a basic measure in constructing, constraining, and assessing theoretical models of halo structures. We consider corrections to static density ~optical limit! Glauber model calculations of reaction cross sections of such nuclei at high energy giving careful consideration to their intrinsic few-body structure and the adiabatic nature of the...

Calculations of reaction cross sections for C at relativistic energies

Few-body Glauber theory calculations of reaction cross sections for the proposed single neutron halo nucleus C are presented for an incident energy of 960 MeV/nucleon on a C target. The calculated reaction cross sections are shown to be significantly smaller than those obtained using the optical limit approximation to the Glauber theory elastic profile function. The implications of these differ...

Core excitation in halo nucleus breakup

We estimate the magnitudes of core excited state cross sections, following halo nucleus dissociation on a light target. Calculations of integrated partial cross sections for the Be(Be,Beγ) reaction at 60 MeV/nucleon are presented and some sensitivities to inputs discussed. Reasonable agreement is obtained with preliminary experimental estimates for this system. Paper presented at: Nuclear Struc...

Nucleus-nucleus reaction cross-sections calculated for realistic nuclear matter distributions within the Glauber-Sitenko approach

Abstract.Basing on the thickness (profile) function, previously obtained for the realistic Fermi type distribution of nucleons in nuclei, calculations are made of the microscopic eikonal phases of the nucleus-nucleus scattering and the total reaction crosssections. In so doing, the phase is deduced to the one-dimensional integral provided that the Gaussian density distribution for the projectil...
